Mark told the little kids to get in his car this afternoon without car seats since they "were only going as far as the park," but they wouldn't do it. Claire and Dave ran back into the house and asked me "who was right." I backed them up so dad had to move his car to the street in order to pull the minivan out of the garage. It took less than a minute.
I'm proud of them even though this is the same pair who frequently don't buckle in when we drive up our street to the pool or the bus stop. At least I know they won't leave the neighborhood without proper car seats, and I'll have to remind them that legally they have to be in a car seat before the car can start moving.
