He hit and killed a deer this morning. Car is in the shop.

She woke briefly but wouldn’t open her eyes

Mom ate pretty well today and took a long nap. Hospice came early and bathed her which is now the routine on weekdays.

Kids weren’t thrilled about the rain I wished for

But we had enough fun at the Jurassic World movie to make up for it.

Caved

Recently turned down 5 long-term sub jobs because I already filled in for 4 during the last school year, and it is simply a lot of extra work without any additional compensation. Today the elementary school requested me for 2 months because a different ESL teacher (from the one I covered last summer) is due on July 13. Agreed to do it because the kids are sweet and I would want someone to help me if my parents brought me to a strange country where I didn’t know the language and they needed me as a translator. Will probably kick myself in the bus loop at 4 pm every day in the sweltering heat, but it’s a living. 

I ❤️ summer despite the high of 96 today

Rain would be nice because the lawn is turning brown. Just gave haircuts to the three kiddos so they are cute and cool (Katie did her own last week which scared Jake unnecessarily). I made cookies with Claire and Dave which Mark enjoyed and Matt dubbed “delicious.” The dog is going to town on her squeaky toys. It’s the best time of the year with traditional school out!
