But I miss my Mandy girl so much every day, even 10 months later.

 

 

This is a good thing

We did it. Hospice services began today and they have already jumped into action. They’re ordering a new “hospital” bed for her and will make sure she gets communion every week. Their chaplain will visit Mom regularly, and so will their social worker and a nurse. They aren’t going to make her sit on the toilet anymore because she has already gone in her diaper and it scares her (also safer for her and the staff). They will bathe her from here on out; that person visits every weekday. I was nervous about making the request, but apparently it happened just in time; the nurse checked her chart and Pat lost 10 pounds in the past 2 months. Claire fed her today and she ate 85% of her meal! 

Hospice called about Mom

Will meet the team Monday at Brookdale for an evaluation now that the doctor made the referral. If they take her on, Pat will have yet another layer of reinforcements assisting during the months ahead.
