I try not to pester the facility with phone calls, while constantly wondering how Mom is doing. She was up in the chair all day and is taking a nap now at 3:15 pm. I asked how she is eating and it’s very slow. They pair the same (very patient) aides with her who know what they are “in for” at mealtime. Honestly, they’re amazing.
Mom came incredibly close to slapping me across the face in a restaurant in 2016 (when she lived with us) because I said she had to have something with her Diet Coke for dinner. It was a shrimp entree which was her favorite, but she was still livid.
I was considering a second career as an elderly sitter before I began subbing, but Pat and Dianne told me not to do it. None of us realized it was part of my future no matter what.
