Pat gained some weight

I’m not much of a phone person but I talked with the hospice chaplain for an hour this morning. He didn’t have specific numbers, but apparently one of the people feeding Mom will sit patiently for extended periods spoon feeding little bites into Mom’s mouth for as long as it takes. He said Mom is smiling more, and they dropped off a new stuffed animal for her on Monday. He said he is sure she knows she is loved, and they’re all looking out for her. I’m so thankful to have this incredible team taking care of her! 

Dare I hope?

There are plans in the works to let us visit our family members at the SNF during the second half of September. It’s by appointment only in a special room they will clean after each visit so I expect delays, but the thought of finally seeing Mom again makes me very happy! 

I found a job!

I’m the new 8th grade English Language Arts teacher at Fred J. Carnage Magnet Middle School in Raleigh. The focus is on “Gifted and Talented/Academically or Intellectually Gifted Basics” (although we have a wide range of abilities and strengths). I was an AIG kid a million years ago so I expect we’ll get along well. Start date is 9/30. Hoping we can move from virtual back to in-person very soon!!
